Day 2 Activity 2 week 1 Summer Learning Journey 2016

Activity 2
One of the most popular activities in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, is called ‘Bullfighting.’ It has been a part of Spanish culture for centuries. In bullfighting people called ‘toreros and ‘matadors’ fight with a live bull. The toreros do most of the fighting and, ultimately, capture the bull and tie it up. Once it has been caught, the matador joins the fight and kills the bull. Although most toreros and matadors are men, there are some women who also compete in the sport.
Not everyone supports bullfighting in Spain. In fact, about 30% of the population want it to be banned (stopped) completely. What do you think? On your blog tell us whether or not you think that bullfighting should be banned in Spain. Please provide, at least, two reasons to support your decision.
A) I really think that bullfighting should be banned because…………
Firstly men's and woman’s life matter, they are causing their life away, what happens if their children won’t have dads or moms in their life no more just because of bullfighting.
Secondly I really think that bullfighting is a very dangerous because what happens if they can’t handle the bull and the bull kills heaps of people especially children while they are watching!
Thirdly I really think that torturing the bull is very disgraceful not feeling guilty about a animal especial a bull is very discussed!

  1. Hi Lusia,

Thank you so much for sharing your opinion about bullfighting with us. You have written a very well explained argument about why it should be banned, well done!

I particularly like how much detail you have included in your answers, especially all the different perspectives you have considered. That shows you've really understood the task! I completely agree with you about bullfighting too. I think it's very dangerous for the people involved, and on top of that the way they treat the bulls is very cruel and inhumane.

A lot of people in Spain still encourage bullfighting, because they believe it is an important tradition. However, it is important that we always try to consider what we think the right thing to do is regardless of what other people might think.

Great discussion Lusia, keep it up!

    Dan.
